That involves a lot of interaction and trust with Joker, which makes her one of the best romances. Ohya is an unremarkable, drunk, and bad journalist. She is also one of those characters that seem way older than the main character.
As a bad journalist, she only cares for stories that sell rather than stories that deserve to be told. In her defense, she used to be a better journalist until uncovering a scandal forced her to change her career. She is not just a bad romance, but an unpopular confidant. Joker is definitely better off with someone else. Persona 5 Royal 's only romanceable position is the graceful gymnast, Kasumi Yoshizawa.
Kasumi is polite, shy, and confident, and watching her shell slowly break open as you get to know her is nothing short of heartwarming.
Her rank 9 and 10 confidants are quite a treat, especially in rank 9 where Joker shows his true colors as the rebellious trickster by pulling off some genuinely suave moves after the two profess their love for one another.
Haru is well loved by fans, and many are disappointed that she only comes in the later part of the game. Many have probably already even picked their romance before meeting her. However, they miss out. She is kind, adorable, and tough all at once and it is easy to feel protective of her.
It goes from being very scripted in the intro to offering you a lot of free time as you get closer to your first palace the equivalent of a dungeon in this game. After about 20 hours spent with Persona 5there are a few things that we wish we would have known before we started. This seems like a fairly straightforward tip, but seriously: Do not ignore the talking cat.
Once Morgana makes his way into your life, he will drop hint after hint at you. Some of these are very clear instructions, while others are suggestions. Regardless, talk to him and heed his advice. If you find yourself struggling, you may not be listening to Morgana.
He is great for telling you where you should be going and even how you should be fighting. It can be almost obnoxious at times, but press on. Maybe that 15th suggestion to heal your teammates is the one that will finally get through. Most of the fights leading up to your first palace are tutorialized. However, once you have full control of your party, Persona 5 will not pull its punches.
The goal in every fight should be to defeat your enemy before your enemy can attack you. Use sleeping spells or knock all of the enemies down to finish them off quickly. In Kamoshida Palace, there are several enemies that deal high damage and can attack your weaknesses regularly. This is why you want to start every fight as an ambush: It allows you to attack first and avoid dying.
If an enemy gets the jump on you, it could be the end of your journey. Which leads us to our next point …. This is crucial to success. Take your time. If, however, this is your first Persona game, there are a few things it's handy to know before embarking on your journey.
We'll cover the intricacies of Persona Fusing on its own page, but for the purposes of overworld exploration they hold an important function - each Persona belongs to an Arcana like a suit in a deck of cardsand each character you encounter in the overworld will have an affinity for a particular Arcana.
Carrying a Persona of a matching Arcana when you interact with a character will increase the effectiveness of your meeting, requiring fewer interactions to increase your standing with that character, so it pays to check you're carrying an appropriate Persona before talking to anyone - the stats menu lists all your Confidantstheir Arcana, and their current ranking.
Palaces are the game's main plot dungeons, but unlike previous instalments in the series they're not randomly generated, and it's not possible to finish them in a single sitting. Most will require at least three visits - an initial investigation, a full exploration, and a return for the boss fight - but some may require more.
Once one is completed you can't revisit it, but you can return as many times as you like before then, so make sure you get everything you need!
There are also Momentoswhich are bite-sized, random and optional dungeons which are useful to get extra EXP, items and more. Combat in the game is turn based, and turn order is determined by the Speed attribute of the characters and enemies. Each member of your party has a basic melee attack and a ranged attack with a limited number of shots, and the damage deal by these is dependant on the characters level and the weapon they use.
New weapons can be purchased from Untouchables in Shibuya or occasionally located in treasure chests. In addition to base attacks, each character has special abilities tied to their person. Your team mates have a fixed pool of abilities available, with new skills added as they level up, but the main character has the capability to swap ability sets in and out each turn by switching Personas. Special attacks are mostly elemental in nature - fire, wind, ice, lightning, radiation, bless, and curse - and most enemies will be weak to at least one of these.
Tougher enemies may have no weaknesses, though, and may also be resistant or immune to certain types of damage and in some cases may even reflect the damage back. Hitting enemies with an attack based on their weakness will knock them to the ground leaving them open to follow up attacks, and if you can manage to get all enemies on the floor at the same time you can opt to unleash an "all out" attack to deal massive damage, or bargain with the enemies to get more loot, items, or even take their Persona.
As well as activities such as fishing, baseball and other Social Stat boosters, you can craft tools at your workbench for dungeon crawling after April 17th.
Ingredients for crafting can be purchased from various shops around the overworld and will be randomly dropped when defeating shadows. While there are quite an array of items available, as a general rule we'd recommend sticking to just crafting standard lockpicks: you can easily make enough to open every locked chest you'll come across and each crafting session will earn you 2 or 3 proficiency points, so it's worth taking the time rather than opting to craft the Eternal Lockpick once it becomes available.
It's worth nothing on July 25th a second set of recipes will be added to your arsenal, and getting Kawakami to rank 5 will occasionally allow you to craft items during school hours, and at rank 7 you can ask her to craft items for you, both of which can save you precious time.
After reaching the true ending and watching the credits you're given the option of saving your clear data, and doing so allows you to start a new game that carries over some perks from your previous playthrough:. One thing to note is that enemies don't scale so combat may prove to be a little too easy a second time around, but you'll be given the option of selecting a new difficulty during the initial interrogation if you want to up the challenge.

By creating a variety of Personas for your main character to use, you can effectively exploit elemental weaknesses of your opponents such as a variety of tough bosses as well as survive attacks of your own. Instead of noting every Persona and their possible Fusions - which would be a huge and overwhelming - instead we've provided some advice on how to get the best Personas as and when you need them. The quickest and most obvious way of acquiring new Personas is by claiming them from vanquished enemies, but you can also create new ones or strengthen existing ones by sacrificing them in the Velvet Room.
The number of combinations is a little overwhelming, but the process is simple and it's now possible to work backwards from the result you want rather than manually trying every combination of two and three Personas and hoping for the best.
Fusing Personas is also where your Confidant social rank comes into play - the higher a rank you have in a given Arcana the greater the bonuses you will receive during Fusion, meaning it's possible to create Personas that are far more powerful than you'll find in the wild. They can also inherit some abilities from their "parents" so with some tinkering you can produce some well rounded results.
If you're having trouble finding any of the required source Personas you may be able to fuse those from others in your possession; check the "Fusion by result" section in the Velvet Room. You may also find this is easier to achieve on higher difficulty levels as you're more likely to stun rather than outright kill enemies thus making it easier to acquire their Persona. Besides, why settle for what nature provides when - with a bit of patience, imagination, and luck - you can create your own variants of others that are extremely tough to do any damage to?

Our walkthroughs for the original version will lead you down the right path in this updated version of the game too, but with some minor changes. Since Joker now has a grappling hook, some directions below will be different. Use his grapple instead to continue onward. The updated Persona 5 Royal contains an added collectible in each dungeon called Will Seeds.
Start the palace by following the path back to the bio-metrics door that we left behind last time. So go up the elevator and turn left down the hall. There will now be enemies occupying the palace, so be sure to take them out carefully.
Move onto the balcony and then around to the room with the door. You will be able to get through without any problems now that you have Haru in your group. Once through the door, you will come face to face with Shadow Okumura for the first time. The overbearing nature of her father and her creepy fiancee will be too much for Haru to bear anymore. She is ready to be her own person and play by her own rules. As such, her Persona will evolve and fully form, just in time to take on that pesky jerk fiancee.
Now that Haru is prepared to fight, she will replace someone on your squad for the upcoming battle. The fiancee will turn into a giant robot and is ripe for a beatdown. This fight is very similar to many other mini-boss style fights in this dungeon, so pay close attention on how to beat them. The fiancee will be flanked on both sides by little blue worker bots.
These blue bots are weak to both fire and wind. Use abilities that hit multiple enemies to strike them and take them out quickly, otherwise they will heal the boss. The boss himself is weak to Psi abilities.
Luck for us that Haru has plenty of those at her disposal. After taking out this corporate crew, walk forward for a chest and then jump onto the elevator. Once you emerge, head left. Here, you will find a chest and the Facility Passageway Safe Room. Once you have done everything you need to in your new Safe Room, head right until you come across a locked door. Bummer, well, good thing you are a thief.
Look to the right of the door and spot a ledge with a vent.
